Thanlyin first came to prominence in the 15th century as the main port city of the Hanthawaddy Kingdom, replacing a silted up Bago port. In 1539, the city became part of the Kingdom of Taungoo.

Pick up at your hotel. Drive to Thanlyin (Syriam), once a major port, but now a sleeping village. Excursion to Ye Le Paya (Kyaik Maw Won), “Mid Stream Pagoda”, set on a tiny island in the river. Explore the river-side market and enjoy shopping. You can feel the real ways of life. After sightseeing, return back to Yangon. In the afternoon, Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha, Kandawgyi Lake which is closed to the city center and a good place for a walk. This lake is most attractive at sunset when the glittering Shwedagon is reflected in its calm water and China Town. Return to the hotel.
